Presentation exploring determinants of health and well-being in two contrasting geographical areas. Your presentation should incorporate the search strategy, sources of data for health and well-being of the local populations and explain the diversity in terms of health outcomes.
Assignment brief:
Your task is to compare and contrast the state of public health in two cities of quite similar population-size in the UK – Blackpool (England) and Oxfordshire (England).
When comparing the two cities you should ONLY consider the TWO following parameters:
1. LEVELS OF OBESITY – reduce life expectancy, how many fast food shops are there, how healthy eating is promoted, affordability, eat well, etc.
2. PHYSICAL EXERCISE – health behaviour, preventing chronic diseases (heart diseases, diabetes, number of gyms, etc)
Make sure that you use resources of suitable standard. For example, avoid using newspapersand popular media and make use of original, ‘first hand’ resources of information such as the National Statistics Office, Public Health England as well as scientific publications.
