“The Crucial Role of Communication and Delegation in Nurse Leadership and Management”
According to Marquis and Huston, communication is related to all phases of the management process. “Skilled Communication” is also one of AACN’s six essential standards for a healthy work environment.
Why is communication such a crucial part of the nurse leader’s/nurse manager’s role? What is the relationship between communication and delegation?
Display 20.1 in Chapter 20 of the textbook outlines the leadership roles and management functions associated with delegation. Pick one leadership role and one management function and discuss why each is important.
Two-way communication is listed as one of the leadership roles associated with performance appraisals (Chapter 24). How can two-way communication motivate an employee? What factors contribute to an effective performance appraisal? How can performance deficiency coaching be used to create a disciplined work environment?
