Write a 2-page, double spaced paper based on the definition of psychology. Start off with the definition of what Psychology is based on your textbook. Also, explain how the definition of psychology has changed throughout the years and how the focus has shifted.
Next, tell me about certain misconceptions about the field of psychology that you may have had before joining this class. Also, ask five other people, who are not in a psychology course or work in the field of psychology, about their definition of psychology and what psychologists do. Record their responses word for word and write them in your paper. Please be sure to use quotation marks around direct quotes. After their response, tell me who the person was, including their relationship to you and their age.
Lastly, compare the responses that you have received and related them to the definition of psychology as stated in your textbook. What were some of the major misconceptions that you found? Did responses differ by age? What did these answers have in common?
