One from a peer-reviewed nursing journal (less than five years old)Background to my experience developing the project: I had the pleasure of spending a day with a client and his caregiver in his home under the supervision of my Clinical director. My clinical director wasn’t physically there with me, but she liaises with me, providing me with all the guidance needed to complete the task given. My Clinical Director has a very democratic leadership style and she empowered and motivates her staff to be their best self. Whilst she liaises with me, she still gives me enough empowerment to think and do much on my own.
The day with the patient and caregiver was very good, as I was able to identify and point out area which poses risk for fall in the patient home and provide needed education to both patient and caregiver as to the risk for fall and steps that needed to be taken to prevent falls from taking place in the home. Two areas of opportunity I find were there were throw rugs in the common area which could lead to falling and there were also no grab bars installed in the patient bathroom which is a major area of falls in the bathroom. In addition to the threat of falls identify, there is definitely an opportunity for teaching and learning for both the patient and caregiver. I also felt it was a strength for the patient who was very open and amendable to may the necessary changes.

Unit 2: Factors Influencing Healthcare Practice
