These are truly unprecedented times, and unless you’ve been living under a rock, I am sure you know by now that former President Donald J. Trump has been indicted in four different criminal cases. I know there has already been a lot written about these indictments but the subject will continue to dominate the headlines and will even get more coverage when the trials begin. This case will be followed world wide because this will be the first time, that a former US President could be sentenced to prison. Many of President Trump’s most ardent supporters believe these indictments are a witch-hunt. Others argue this is justice being served for President Trump’s behavior leading up to and the contribution to the January 6th insurrection. What say you? Is this a necessary step for our country? We are a nation of laws after all. Or is the former President being treated by a different standard than past politicians and presidential candidates? Is there any other implications for our Democracy that you can think of?
