Read. Bigham, Hiram.. This reading describing hula in 1820 was written by Hiram Bingham, a 19th century Missionary to Hawai’i. Read these excerpts: the first paragraph of Chapter IV (page 6); p. 123 to the top of p.125. pdf file attached
TASK:
The Creative Response assignment for the Hula unit is a narrated slide presentation (under 3 minute video.) presentation must be in a girl voice not showing her face , so basically a female has to do this. Your presentation will analyze the relationship between hula, gender and colonization.
Use the Notes section of each slide to compose the script for your narration, and then use the recording feature in Google Slides to narrate your presentation. In presenting your thesis and/or discussing the dance examples you choose, make reference to at least two of the four quadrants for dance analysis (your choice of which to choose).
You will use the Asset Library to find sources that support your thesis. Remember! Your Creative Response assignment should demonstrate “here’s what I now understand” about this dance practice and this question.
Here are some strong examples of this assignment: (I attached a video as an example to do something like it)
1. Search and analyze. Search the Asset Library using the tags for the research assignment from this week. Look closely at at least 10 or 15 postings. What do you notice? What connections can you make among them? What connections interest you? What thesis can you create based on the evidence you find?

2. Compose. Compose a thesis/argument that you’d like to make using assets from your search. 3. Select. Select at least 5 resources that support your thesis. No more than two resources may be items that you posted.
4. Design. Open Google Slides and design your analysis as follows:
– Thesis slide. The first slide in your presentation should articulate your thesis.
-Evidence Slides w/Explanation. Paste your evidence onto the slide and use the Drawing tools to show the relationship among them
-Analysis. In the Notes section of the slide, explain your analysis and how the assets your selected support your thesis. Analysis should be ~250 words.
-Conclusion
1. Format. Google Slides.
2. Recording. Your creative response must be recorded, up to 3 minutes in length. The script for the narration should be in the Notes section for each slide.
3. Length. You should have seven slides as follows:

4. Citations. For either format, you must cite at least 5 sources from the Asset Library to support your thesis. Use MLA Citation Style for web resources to give credit to each source.
