The purpose of this assignment is to recommend health policy for a health issue that was
identified, analyzed and proposed in assignments 1, 2 and 3. All components of a policy
recommendation paper should be addressed in paragraph form using at least 10-15 peerreviewed, current (within the past 5 years) articles to support the policy recommendation.
Note: This is an opportunity to incorporate grading guidance from assignments 1, 2, and 3, as
well as any relevant, additional information learned up to this point.
The paper should be 6- 8 pages in length to a maximum of 10 pages not including title page,
references, and should follow APA Manual 7th Ed. scholarly writing guidelines. Please see rubric for proper documentation of submission Specifically, the paper should include the following sections with appropriate section headers:
Executive Summary: This section is often one to two paragraphs long; it includes an overview of the problem and the proposed policy action.
• This is often the most difficult part of the paper to write because it requires you to condense
the most important and relevant information and write succinctly.
Issue Definition and Background: This section communicates the importance of the
problem and aims to convince the reader of the necessity of policy action.
Options & Policy Analysis: This section discusses the current policy approach and explains proposed options. It should be fair and accurate while convincing the reader about
why the policy action proposed in the brief is the most desirable.
Policy Recommendation: This section contains the most detailed explanation of the concrete steps to be taken to address the policy issue.
Conclusion: This section will include a brief summary of the issue, your policy recommendation/s, and what you see as realistic next steps in resolving this health policy
issue/problem. Please also include your general impression of the issue and your analysis of
the policy process and any lessons learned
