Romance is a billion-dollar industry that keeps many publishers’ bills paid and deserves a place in the pantheon of American Literature.
I want my thesis to explore the evolution of romance novels both socially and culturally. Women’s response to these changes and why it matters as a field of study as a reflection of the needs desires and cultural expectations of women today. Although Romance is considered the black sheep of the publishing industry, its revenues bring in the financial support that allows publishers to pursue what is considered more worthy endeavors. I want my paper to delve into the genre’s history, its themes, marketing plans, sales, and the community of Romance readers.
In terms of the sources for this paper, I need them to come from legitimate sources than the ones that I have attached to this instructions portal. (no blog as sources) It’s my understanding that we need at least 20 sources and some of those sources should come from books and legitimate publications whether print or online.
My ideal end goal here would be to have a thesis about why romance novels are and should be a legitimate field of study and how they serve as a reflection of the desires wants and needs of women today even though they’re considered trashy or “Chick-Lit”.
