a) the journal articles must be empirical studies (must include a method section with participants). Literature reviews are not appropriate for this assignment (although they may be included in your paper).
b) the journal articles describe experiments involving the manipulation of an independent variable, and measurement of one or more dependent variables. Be sure that the studies you select include the same or similar variables that you plan to incorporate into your project.
c) the journal articles must be published in a scholarly journal. Popular press articles (e.g., published in Psychology Today), websites, or secondary sources such as textbooks or encyclopedias, are not acceptable for this assignment.
For each article summary, you need to type your responses to the following:
1) Full reference using APA 7th edition style
2) Briefly describe prior research in this area discussed in the introduction section. Attempt to answer the following questions ‘why are researchers interested in this topic?’ and ‘how have other researchers investigated this topic?’
3) State the researchers’ hypotheses and identify main variables of interest
4) Describe how the main variables of interest were operationally defined in this study (i.e., How was the independent variable manipulated? How was the dependent variable measured?)
5) Briefly describe the design of the study. Was it a between subjects, within subjects, or mixed design?
6) What were the major findings? Were the hypotheses supported?
7) What do the authors suggest for future research? Are these factors that you could consider in your project?
8) Attach copies of the original articles.
