SCENE: TIME MACHINE
This lesson is an extension of the lesson on ‘scene.’ Refer to the previous lessons if necessary.
Objectives:
Explain the meaning of the literary term ‘scene’
Identify the element of ‘scene’ in literary works
At one time or another, all of us have wondered what it might be like to press a button on a time machine and be transported into the past. But suppose you could somehow be transported by a time machine to a single day you have already lived. In other words, if you could break the time barrier and go back to a single day of your life, which day would your choose?
Lesson 14 Assignment
A. Describe the one day in your life you would choose to re-live if only you could. As you write your description of that day, think about the rules for writing ‘scene.’
B. After you complete your ‘scene’ explain how you used the general rules for ‘scene’ in your writing. Identify how the scene does one or more of the following:
a. Provides exposition
b. Describes character
c. Advances the plot
