Introduction • What was the author’s purpose in writing this article, and do they present a solid rationale for it? • What new “twist” were the authors adding to the investigation of this problem? • Are the study objectives clearly stated? Methods • Can you understand what the authors did and would you be able to reproduce their results if you were knowledgeable in that area? • Are sufficient details presented? • What things did the author do well in the experimental, analytical, or computer simulation methodology? • What things could the author have done better? • Did the author make any assumptions that were not justified? Results • Do the authors present and display the data in the clearest way possible? • What do you think are the most significant results of this work? Discussion • Did the authors relate their study to prior work in the literature? • Is it clear how this study supports or disagrees with previous studies and why? • Did the authors acknowledge the limitations of their study and discuss how these might affect the results and their interpretation? • Are the conclusions justified by their data? • If you were to continue this work from where the author left off, what would you do next and why? Very Good (B) 8 points The review is clear, well organized with logical sequencing and elaboration of key points. All key points are adequately detailed and there is in-depth analysis of some of the points. Some flaws in spelling, grammar or structure. Good (C) 7 points There is adequate analysis of the article content but with some points detailed more than others. Concepts are not completely understood or explained. Full of spelling, grammar and structural errors. Unsatisfactory (F) 6 & below The review is lacking in focus and clarity of expression. Key points not elaborated upon and details are minimal. Little analysis of content. No attention paid to spelling, grammar and structure.
