Continuous Quality Improvement in Healthcare Organizations: Examining National Patient Safety Goals and Strategies for Success

The purpose of this assignment is for you to examine continuous quality improvement within a healthcare organization. Start by going to the Joint Commission website and clicking on Standards (top of the page), then National Patient Safety Goals. Select an area in which you’ve worked and download the chapter. Choose two of the goals listed and examine if/how those goals are being achieved in your place of employment. If you are currently not employed in a healthcare organization, select an area of interest and base your research on the Cleveland Clinic. Within your paper, you should:
Describe the systematic process for quality control that helps organizations meet their goals and outcomes.
Identify and describe the model your organization uses to assist in the quality improvement process. If it doesn’t use a model, discuss what model might work for the organization.
Identify the area you selected from the National Patient Safety Goals and the two specific goals you are focusing on. Explain whether or not your organization is meeting the goals. How does your organization report on those goals?
Identify which organization they use for their quality indicators. Do they participate in NDNQI?
Explain why Leapfrog or another patient safety initiative could be helpful to the organization and describe how it could reduce medical errors.
Continuous quality improvement initiatives provide opportunities to evaluate performance in a systematic and scientific way. Explain why leaders are challenged by these initiatives. As a leader, what are some things you might do to ensure that your initiatives are successful?
Your paper should be approximately 1250 words (5 pages double-spaced), excluding the references. Use a minimum of 4 sources and cite them using APA format. [MO 7.3]
