You will prepare and post a slide presentation to serve as a “proposal” for a retrospective exhibit
Your project should begin with a slide in your powerpoint that gives an introduction of your
proposal (this should be around 200 words, and it may take more than one slide). Give the
exhibit title, the names of the selected designers, and explain what common thread links them for
this group exhibit together. Briefly state why these designers are important and why they deserve
to have a combined exhibition of their work. Part of the introduction will also include an
explanation about your choice for the museum to host your hypothetical exhibit. Be sure to
mention where this museum is located. The museum does not have to be in our local area—
perhaps it is the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, as an example. But it must be a
believable choice.

Your slides must have only “bullet points” of info. If you are not sure what that means, “google”
it to find out.

at a major museum. The proposed exhibit would feature the work of three graphic designers that
you have selected for your proposed group show.

As the “curator” for this hypothetical exhibit, you will select three designers (from those
mentioned in selected chapters of our textbook)—whose combined work would comprise an
interesting show. Each person must have worked during the 20th or 21st century, or both. See the
topic areas for requirements and suggestions (refer to the list of designers and other information
in the Resources for Final Project in this module.

You will need to look ahead at the chapters we have not covered yet to help you decide.
The slideshow should be prepared as either a PowerPoint presentation or a multi-page
PDF ONLY! Proposals submitted using any other format than PowerPoint or PDF will not be
accepted!

In your presentation, you may embed interactive links if you wish to jump to YouTube or
another website. The majority of your visuals and text, however, must be part of the PDF or
PowerPoint. Do not embed links for more than a couple of examples. If you are linking to
online videos, choose ones that are no longer than three minutes (you may jump to excerpts, if
needed).

**You should have a minimum of 14 slides in your project, and more that 14
slides is perfectly OK. **

These slides should be:

➢ One title slide for the exhibition

➢ 3–5 slides for each of the three designers

➢ A “works cited” slide that lists your sources in a proper bibliography (use MLA format).

Remember that this presentation will be viewed by your classmates online. So be sure
that your pages are set up as horizontal, i.e., “landscape,” format. This is automatic in
PowerPoint, of course.
Caution: This is not a text-heavy research paper! Slides should have only brief text on
each slide. Also, do NOT use Wikipedia as a source!
➢ After you introduce your final project, a title slide must come first to introduce the title
of your proposed exhibition- this should include the names of the three designers you
have selected.

➢ Consider this presentation as a “pitch” that you would make to the museum’s committee
of people who will decide whether to host this exhibit or not.

➢ Include only “bullet points” of information on each slide. All images must be labeled
with captions that include the title of the work and the date it was created.

➢ List relevant background info on each designer, including his/ her education, what has
influenced his/ her work (such as other designers and/or movements), and his/ her career
path.

➢ Show visual examples with accompanying info for the design work that you would want
exhibited – at least 3 to 5 for each designer. **YOU MAY NOT INCLUDE
IMAGES FROM YOUR TEXTBOOK IN YOUR PROJECT** Including images
from the text will result in a loss of points from the final project. The goal is to get
you to find additional examples of works created by the designers you have chosen, not
simply regurgitate what is in the text.

➢ References (works cited) should be recorded on the last slide in MLA format. Run the
Spell Checker in whatever program you are using before you submit!

The 3 Designers I’m requesting are Georg Olden, THOMAS MILLER and GAIL ANDERSON, I did not decided on the museum
