A single term paper shall be required this semester. Students will choose a single scholarly article (from a series attached here) and compose a subjective response/critique that must address the following three questions:
1. What is the novel discovery/technique/problem presented in this paper?
2. What, in your opinion, does this discovery portend?
3. What, in your opinion, are the downstream applications of this discovery?
Papers are to be written in past-passive form (simply put: passive is used when the person or thing that did the action is unknown, unimportant or not the focus of our interest). At this level of
education, we should not see any “I liked the paper, lol :).” The written word should not contain any contractions, spelling or grammatical errors. You must proofread your response paper since “there” and “their” is not detected/corrected by word processing software. Papers should be 10-12 pages (I’ll explain more about pages below), double spaced, size 12 font. While no heading is needed on the first page, you MUST include a footnote with your full name and page number (e.g. “Your name, 1”). If you cite data aside from the scholarly article, include a references page.
This must be professionally made with 7 pages of actual content. Unfortunately, I can’t afford more pages since it’s originally supposed to be 10-12 pages. Try your best to make it 7-8 pages or even 9 if there is extra content you want to put. Totally optional to go that far. If you use outside sources from your selected biochemistry scholarly article however, you must create a reference page. Use the knowledge of biochemistry to create this paper.
Also, please don’t plagiarize or paraphrase from any sources. This paper must be done from scratch and with own thought from those sources of course. I personally have access to Turnitin so I really don’t want to deny a paper realizing it’s just simple paraphrasing or plagiarism. Sorry!!
Overall, that is pretty much it. I will inform you if the plans have changed or any additional instructions this paper may require. Thank you so much and please let me know if there are any questions you may have! If you do a great job, I may tip you as well.
