For this activity, students will be provided a list of statements that are often viewed as “privileges” in society. It is important to keep in mind that a privilege is a societal benefit that someone receives due to a personal characteristic or attribute. In today’s society, privilege is often seen as something that a person enjoys but has not necessarily earned, and may not deserve. It may be helpful to reframe privilege as a benefit that only some people have, but that would benefit everyone. Please keep in mind that privilege is the fault of society. Therefore, it is the responsibility of society to ensure that everyone can enjoy privilege equitably, regardless of personal characteristics.
Please review the list of statements provided to students and consider how many of them are true for you. Then complete a 400-600 word reflective essay that responds to at least three of the following prompts.
