1. Paragraph Brainstorm,
For your first writing assignment, you will work your way through the writing process, beginning with brainstorming and ending with writing a paragraph.

Instructions
Using the given topic, complete a brainstorm. You can use any of the methods that were previously discussed, but the information must be organized in some way to show the topic, major support, and minor support/examples. You can also use any software that you would like, but some possibilities are

Some of these resources are available to you free through the college with Microsoft Office (Valencia CollegeLinks to an external site., while for others, you made need to create an account but they include free trials. If you prefer, you can download load the pre-created brainstorm Download brainstorm, and fill in the bubbles with text boxes.
As noted in the Step 1: Brainstorming lesson, be sure to only use phrases/words and not complete sentences. Also remember, the more information in the beginning, the better.
Submit the brainstorm in either a PDF or Word Doc format.
2. Paragraph Outline,
or your first writing assignment, you will work your way through the writing process, beginning with brainstorming and ending with writing a paragraph.

Topic: 3 qualities needed for success

Process: brainstorm, outline, rough draft, edit & revise, and final draft
Instructions
Using the information from your brainstorm, complete an outline. You should use the suggested format to complete the outline, and it must contain a topic sentence, three major pieces of support (3 qualities), at least three pieces of minor support/example for each quality, and a concluding sentence. You can also use any software that you would like, but some possibilities are

As noted in the Step 2: Outlining lesson, the only complete sentences included in the document should be the topic and concluding sentences. The other parts should be short phrases or words to make the idea understandable.

3. Paragraph Final Draft For your first writing assignment, you will work your way through the writing process, beginning with brainstorming and ending with writing a paragraph.

Instructions
Using the outline you created as a guide, write a well-developed paragraph about the three qualities needed for success. You should be sure to include a topic sentence, three main ideas/major support (the 3 qualities), lots of minor details and examples, and a concluding sentence. There is no minimum or maximum number of sentences, but the ideas should be fully developed. You can use any of the following word processors to write the paragraph; however, the paragraph should be submitted in a Word Doc format.
